1. I took a side profile photo of each child and knowing I was going to be filling an 8x10 space in my frame I made my head image slightly smaller than the 5x7 photo I printed.
You can see I traced out the shoulders, there are a few different versions online of how you can finish the bottoms but I just kept it simple.
Make sure you use a card stock, it is better for tracing because it is heavier.
2. I cut them both out.
3. Then I traced them onto a beautiful matte gray cardstock. I made them facing eachother, I just like the way that looks when framed.
I used the originals as templates so I can use them again for another project.
4. I cut the silhouettes out.
5. You can use any background behind the silhouettes, paper or fabric. I chose a white linen. I like to mix in textures when I am using a neutral color scheme.
This was the cardboard that came with my frames. I just placed it on top of my fabric & gave myself an extra .5" all the way around & cut.
6. I used this spay glue to adhere the fabric to the cardboard. It's the best! Make sure you open a window & spay away, be sure to do it evenly. Smooth out with fingers starting in the center & moving out. Then trim you edges.
Spray the back of your silhouettes and adhere them to your background. Again, smooth out starting at center & work out. Get the edges good so it looks seamless.
7. I bought these at Home Goods for $9.00 each & spray painted the frames. You can use a flat finish or a satin, I liked the finish from this brand, it's not shiny at all.
8. Insert & enjoy!
Total cost for this project was $24.00.
I hope you found this helpful.
Have a wonderul Wednesday & thank you for stopping by.
I leave you with this sweet quote.
No one has yet realized the wealth of sympathy,
the kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child.
The effort of every true education should be to unlock that treasure.
- Emma Goldman
