Happy Tuesday!
I hope you are all having a good start to the week.
Recently I cleaned up the "toy corner" in my family room
and decided to create new sitting area.
Before I rushed into buying something NEW
I shopped my home first to see
what I could re-use.
A dark woven wood Pier 1 settee in the
basement was just waiting for me:).
Two bottles of spray paint later
&.......
Sorry for not having a better before shot.
This was actually a very dark brown piece from years ago.
My camera broke right before I started this project so
this was the only shot I could get.
I used a creamish color and lightly sanded the edges.
On to the feather bed.
Instead of a cushion I used a huge feather bed.
Really what it is, is a huge custom down pillow I ordered from Calico Corners.
I don't know about you but...
I like easy sewing.
I sewed a large knife edge pillow(to my measurements)
with an envelope back.
with an envelope back.
I did taper the sides.
I love the staged photos
but I thought I would share a few images of real life.
This is MY spot.
In the afternoon it gets the perfect amount of sunlight
&
I can sneak glimpses of the bay.
In the afternoon it gets the perfect amount of sunlight
&
I can sneak glimpses of the bay.
Right before my oldest son gets off the bus
and while my little guy takes a snooze,
I like to sit here and take a few moments
for myself,
with my coffee in one hand
& if I am lucky
a decorating magazine in the other.
It refuels me.
It refuels me.
Do you have a spot like this in your home,

Have a wonderful week,

I feel lucky to find your resourceful site while I'm researching for
ReplyDeletePantry Doors and by the way, thanks for this reference.
Such a pretty area...just lovely. The toile pillow on the right is the same fabric of curtain panels I bought recently... I fell in love with the soft blue colors and pattern. It is just beautiful on this piece. Would love to have a couple of these.
