Holiday Traditions

Every year since I was a little girl my mother would give me an ornament on Christmas Eve. It was a tradition and it was something I looked forward to as it would always hold a special meaning for us. She would hand write in her beautiful penmanship a note along with the year.

I didn’t realize then what an important and meaningful tradition she had begun. I am not sure why she started it (I wish I knew) but she obviously had an idea this would mean something years to come.
So each year with her memory I sit down with my boys on Christmas Eve and carry on her tradition. I give them each their own special ornament along with a little message and the year. After that we hang my childhood pieces my mother gave to me and my oldest will always pick a few and ask me to tell him a story about it.
I love that he asks, it keeps the memories alive and not forgotten .

I hope in years to come my boys will carry on the same tradition with their families and have a few of their own stories to share.
One can only hope:)!
Enjoy!
